sweetndunique2 asked:

Me and my fiancee are planning to go to the same college so it has to have a REALLY good French Horn-Music performance/ Vocal-education program. I am also intending to do Instrmental-Music Education.
It would be nice if it is up north to.

What is a good college for Music Education around northern NJ?

fluteblue2 asked:

I’m currently a freshman in college majoring in music education. I’m having doubts about my current school, so I want to start looking into other colleges in case I decide that transferring is the right option for me.

What are some schools that meet as many of these as possible?:

-Must be no more than 3 hours from northern NJ (pretty much limits that to NJ, eastern PA, and southeastern NY)

-Must have a good music program, music ed specifically (Although I’ve improved quiet a bit in the last year since I auditioned, the schools I was accepted to last time were: The College of NJ, Lebanon Valley, Gettysburg College. I feel the last two were a little below my ability level)

-I would prefer a school that placed more focus on arts than liberal arts

-I originally didn’t want anything in a big city, but I’m opening up to the idea a little…I do live an hour from NYC

Thanks!

I am interested in the Duquesne music program and have questions about auditions for colleges.

calgal asked:

Is the Duquesne music program difficult to get into? I’m a singer and would love to double major in music or music education and International Relations. Are there any other schools with good programs? What do you need for auditions at most schools? Any tips or advice?

Is there ever a balance of university music and academics?

ajsaxo asked:

I am a rising senior from Georgia I am looking for a competitive university with outstanding academics, but I want to major in Music Education. I currently have a 4.0 GPA. My school does not have any honors or AP classes, but I have taken 4 college courses and will take 8 my senior year . The problem I’m having is finding a place where my credits will transfer and a place with excellent financial aid.

I’m currently considering:

1. Northwestern University

2. Vanderbilt University

3. Duke University

4. Emory University

5. University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill

6. University of North Carolina—Greensboro

The first five have outstanding academics, but Duke, Emory, and Chapel Hill don’t have great (and I want GREAT) music programs (especially for sax). Northwestern has the perfect balance, but I don’t think my college credits will transfer. UNC Greensboro has a great music program, but I’m not sure about its academics. It does, however, have Lloyd International Honors College.
I’m retaking the SAT this summer, but I made a 1910 in 10th grade.
Well, I learned recently that I can’t transfer my college courses to any of the first four places (or to almost any private college). Apparently, they don’t like to transfer them if you used them as high school graduation requirements as well.

Music conservatories?

Rockerbaby asked:

I’ll be entering my junior year of high school in about a month. This is the year that our counsellors really drill us about college stuff. I’m most likely going to end up majoring in either music theory & composition, or music education. Can anyone reccomend universities/colleges that have good music programs? I don’t care where it is; I kind of want to go to school out of state anyway. If anyone could help me out, that’d be great.

Which Universities have the best teacher education program?

Jessi asked:

I’m planning transfering to a university after I get my associate’s at community college. I major in elementary education and special education and my fiance in high school music education.

I’m looking for the top teacher education programs. I’ve searched and searched for unbiased sources but without much luck.

Also, I have no idea which state I want to teach in, and I might even teach abroad. So, a school that is flexible about transfering credits, and doesn’t just try to keep graduates in-state would be ideal.

My brother needs aid to pay for his certification as a music teacher. Are there any sources we can consider?

GWIII asked:

He has gone back to college after spending the last few years as a rock mucisian, and has completed the program, but the money is a problem. We are looking for a way to make up the additional $4800 he needs to pay this off without loans. As a young teacher, it certainly seems like there should be something out there. He does have a degree in music education, but needed to finish his certifications to actually be able to teach. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we can look? Thanks!

Question for students or former students who’s school budgets cut art/music programs?

no body asked:

Hi

A few of my friends and I are doing a project about the Importance of Art in Education. We learning about who people have benefited from having them present, not only to become better artists, musicians, or actors/actresses, but to build self esteem, social skills, higher test scores, and other life lessons or achievements.

But unfortunately, some school’s budgets can’t afford to have them, so some children can’t experience what they can bring.

If this has happen to you, I welcome you to share your stories of not having them, and if you did have arts at your school, if they would have possibly helped you in life. If this has happen to you and you feel like it didn’t effected you in at all or it effected you in a positive way, I would love to hear you stories, too. And if you did have them, please share if they effected you in a positive or negative way.

Your stories may be used in our project, but we will not submit your names. Please say if you want or don’t want us to use your story. If you do, you can put your name if you wish. If you don’t, just don’t put your name.

Thank you, and I look forward to hearing your stories.
