It’s definitely doable, but make sure you have college credit going into it (AP or something similar) and be prepared to take summer courses. I started out as music ed but changed my major after a year. I’m now math education with a minor in music. I finish my music minor next semester.

Majoring in history isn’t bad. Minor in music isn’t very useful. Unless you wanna be a teacher I wouldn’t recommend it.

Well here (IA) you would have to get either your degree in elementary or secondary education. Then you would have to get a minor (we call it endorsements here) in both music and history. Here most endorsements are about 36 credit hours (some more some less). History endorsements are different. Here we have to take extra history classes anyways to get our classroom endorsement. So it would only take maybe 4 more classes to get it. Not sure how others states are but here you would have to do so many weeks of student teaching in each area.

Not sure what state you are in..if it is like here..it is VERY hard to get a job. If you are going into secondary education I would suggest doing both as music jobs are hard to come across. It is good to have something else to help you get a job.

All states or different..so it would be good to look at what courses are needed for each degree or minor you would like to take at your college.
